By re-examining the cause and treatment of sore throat throughout my childhood life, my folks avoided their son (me) from being a victim of acute rheumatic fever. As a survivor of this horrific disease, I pay it forward, especially to parents with children diagnosed as having this illness. Rheumatic fever is the commonest cause of heart disease in the young population under age of 40. Both male and female are equally affected. When it affects the heart, it may damage , the valves leading to rheumatic heart diseases.
