Designer eyeglasses such as Armani glasses have become popular among millions of people around the world. Unfortunately there are many fake eyeglasses that are being sold in the market.

If you are worried about the authenticity of your pair of eyeglasses. It is important that you employ a number of methods to check their genuineness.

How to identify an original from fake eyeglasses?
  1. Check the eyeglasses component. If there are plastic screws or hinges, the eyeglasses are most likely fake. Designer eyeglasses should have a solid construction and quality strong components.
  2. Original eyeglasses should come with a warranty document or warranty registration booklet.
  3. Look at the description of the eyeglasses. Does it state the brand name or does it say Inspired by brand name? Inspired simply means fake. Also, look for misspellings and unusual graphics.
  4. Most designers will come with a product information sheet or small card. There should be a company's contact information if one has any question about the eyeglasses.
  5. If you are purchasing the eyeglasses online, compare the seller's pictures of the eyeglasses with those of the eyeglasses on the manufacturer's website. Look at such details as the location of the logo, frame colour and that of the lenses.
  6. In Kenya, most eyeglasses cost between $ 33 and 40 or more. If you find a really cheap pair, especially one that claims to be designer, you may want to reconsider the purchase as they are most likely fake.
  7. You should also look at the package holding the eyeglasses. Check for a barcode, model name, lens and frame description. The box should have the designer's logo on it. 

Note: A Universal Product Code or a UPC is the barcode and the number series located on every retail product. If you receive a package without a barcode sticker, it is an indication that you have purchase a fake. The barcode may also be on the packaging. When ordering eyeglasses, make sure it is being sent in its original wrapping.



The best thing to do is to check the authenticity of the product yourself before you make a purchase.
